Watcher Releasing Date
IFC Films has released the official Watcher trailer for its upcoming thriller drama starring Maika Monroe, which will be released later this year. The film had its world premiere earlier this year at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival, and it is currently scheduled to open in over 500 theaters on June 3, followed by a VOD release on June 21, according to the official release schedule.

Watcher stars Maika Monroe (It Follows), Karl Glusman (Nocturnal Animals), and Burn Gorman, who have all appeared in other films (The Dark Knight Rises). Chloe Okuno is directing the film, which she co-wrote with Zach Ford and is based on a screenplay by Okuno.
“In the film, Julia travels with her husband to his family’s home country of Romania in order to take up a new job,” according to the plot summary. “Having recently given up her acting career, she finds herself alone and unoccupied on a regular basis. One night, while people-watching from her picture window, she notices a vague figure in an adjacent building who appears to be looking back at her. She immediately calls the police. Julia’s sense of being watched intensifies shortly after, while she is alone at a local movie theater, and she becomes convinced that she is being followed — could it be the same unknown neighbor from before? Meanwhile, a serial killer known as “The Spider” is stalking the streets of New York City.
Producers Roy Lee and Steven Schneider of Spooky Pictures, Derek Dauchy, Mason Novick, John Finemore, Aaron Kaplan, and Sean Perrone collaborated on the film, which was directed by Roy Lee. Executive producers include James Hoppe, Elizabeth Grave, Ben Ross, Rami Yasin, and Gabi Antal, among others.
