Travis Landon Barker is a drummer of the American rock band Blink-182. He has also collaborated with hip-hop musicians on numerous occasions, is a member of the rap-rock band Transplants, established the rock bands +44 and Box Car Racer, and later joined Antemasque and Goldfinger. Barker frequently collaborated with the late DJ AM, and the two formed TRV$DJAM. Rolling Stone labeled him “punk’s first superstar drummer” and one of the 100 best drummers of all time because of his notoriety.

Travis Barker’s Early Life

Travis Landon Barker was born in Fontana, California, on November 14, 1975. His mother, Gloria (a babysitter), father, Randy (a mechanic), and two elder sisters raised him. When Barker was four years old, his mother gave him a drum kit, and he began lessons the next year. In junior high, Travis also learned to play the trumpet and piano, and he temporarily sang in a choir. He pondered becoming a professional surfer or skater, but he decided that playing the drums would allow him to express himself the best. Barker’s mother died of Sjögren disease just before the start of his freshman year of high school. Travis was a self-described stoner who marched and played drums in Fontana High School’s marching band.

Travis Barker’s Wife and Kids

Travis and Melissa Kennedy married in 2001 but divorced nine months later. A year after the birth of their son, Landon, he married former Miss USA Shanna Moakler on October 30, 2004. Alabama, their daughter, was born in December 2005, and Moakler has a child from a prior relationship with Oscar De La Hoya. Between 2005 and 2006, the Barkers family starred on the reality show “Meet the Barkers,” which aired 16 episodes. Barker and Moakler divorced in 2008. Travis and Shanna were detained when police were summoned to their shared house in 2014. Barker allegedly threatened to kill Moakler, and Travis threatened to have her boyfriend beat up on her.

Travis filed legal filings in February 2016 to have his $19,000 monthly child support reduced to $2,900, stating that his annual income had fallen from almost $2 million to approximately $600,000. According to the form, Barker’s net worth is roughly $40 million.

Barker had a painkiller addiction following his divorce from Moakler, but he was able to cure his addiction after his plane crashed. He also attributes the plane crash to making him more health-conscious; after leaving the hospital, he began swimming and running on a daily basis, and he resumed eating a vegan diet; he had been a vegetarian since adolescence but had to consume meat while in the hospital to speed up the healing process.

In January 2021, Travis began dating Kourtney Kardashian. They engaged in October 2021 and will marry on May 22, 2022, in Portofino, Italy.

Travis Barker’s Career

Barker played in the high school band Snot and Feeble before joining the Aquabats, a ska-punk band created in 1996 by Feeble bandmate Chad Larson. Barker’s debut album with Blink-182 was released in June 1999, and the band quickly rose to prominence thanks to the hits “All The Small Things,” “What’s My Age Again?” and “Adam’s Song.” “All the Small Things” peaked at number one on the Modern Rock Tracks chart and number six on the Billboard Hot 100, and the video was nominated for an MTV Video Music Award.

Travis Barker and DJ AM Plane Crash

On September 19, 2008, a private plane carrying Travis, Adam Goldstein (aka DJ AM), security guard Che Still, and personal assistant Chris Baker crashed into an embankment and detonated while taking off from Columbia Metropolitan Airport in Columbia, South Carolina. Still, Baker, and two pilots were killed, and Barker and Goldstein were taken to the Joseph M. Still Burn Center in Augusta, Georgia. During his four-month stay in burn centers and hospitals, Barker, who had burns on more than 65 percent of his body, underwent 27 surgeries and skin grafts.

Travis, unsurprisingly, refused to fly for over a decade following the tragedy. As a result, whenever Blink-182 played outside of the United States, he had to be replaced. He flew for the first time with Kourtney Kardashian in 2021, 13 years after the incident.
