The Northman-RedBand Releasing Date
The Northman trailer for Robert Eggers’ upcoming Viking revenge thriller, The Northman, has been released by Focus Features in the red band. As one might expect, there is a lot of violence in this trailer when compared to the previous ones. Featuring an ensemble cast led by Alexander Skarsgrd, the film is set to hit theaters on April 22nd, and you can see it here.

It is described as “an epic revenge thriller that explores the lengths to which a Viking prince will go in order to seek justice for his father’s murder,” and it is set in Iceland during the 10th century.
Oscar nominees Ethan Hawke (The Good Lord Bird), Willem Dafoe (At Eternity’s Gate), Claes Bang (The Square), and Grammy/Academy Award-nominated Icelandic singer-songwriter Björk appear in the film. The film also stars Emmy and Golden Globe-winner Alexander Skarsgrd (Big Little Lies), Golden Globe winner Anya Taylor-Joy (The Queen’s Gambit), Oscar and Emmy and Golden (Dancer in the Dark).
Director Robert Eggers (The Lighthouse, The Witch) is helming The Northman, which he is co-writing with Oscar nominee Sjón, from a screenplay written by the two of them (Dancer in the Dark, Lamb). Lars Knudson and Mark Huffam are in charge of the production.
Eggers first came to public attention in 2015 with his feature directorial debut, The Witch, a period horror film that was both critically and commercially successful at the time of its release. He followed this up with the psychological thriller The Lighthouse, which starred Robert Pattinson and Willem Dafoe in the lead roles.
