The song that is now known as “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” was first composed by Solomon Linda and given the name “Mbube” when it was performed by Lebo M and his South African choir. Timon and Pumbaa, who sang the song in the first film of The Lion King, were the ones responsible for the franchise’s first use of the song.
