A young family vacationing in Mexico becomes the target of a wicked spirit intent on vengeance. Andrew, Carly, and their son Danny take a trip to a remote hacienda in Mexico to get some much-needed rest and relaxation. They were greeted by foreboding signs that displayed missing children as soon as they entered the town.
The story of “La Llorona,” an evil spirit of a heartbroken mother who is said to linger close to the water’s edge and strike fear into the hearts of anybody who sees her, is told to the family, and they learn about the tale. Danny is abducted by La Llorona and held captive in a netherworld between the living and the dead.
This anguish is inflicted upon the family by La Llorona. With the assistance of the smart cab driver Jorge (played by Danny Trejo), the family is racing against time to save their only kid while traveling the ominous countryside that dangerous cartel thugs hold.
La Llorona is gaining strength and power, leaving a trail of death and ruin in her wake; as a result, it appears that she cannot be stopped. However, a mystery from Carly’s past may hold the key to successfully vanquishing the spirit once and for all.
