The first official trailer for The Last of Us, the upcoming television version of the critically acclaimed video game developed by Naughty Dog, has been released by HBO. It features Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey in the starring roles of Joel and Ellie, two of the most iconic characters in the show.
According to the plot summary, the live-action series is set 20 years after the eradication of contemporary civilization. “Joel and Ellie, a pair connected through the harshness of the world in which they live, are forced to endure brutal circumstances and ruthless killers on a trek across a post-pandemic America,” the synopsis reads.

The Last of Us Trailer
The events in the first game will be covered in The Last of Us series. In addition to Pascal and Ramsey, the cast includes Gabriel Luna (Terminator: Dark Fate) as Tommy Miller, Nico Parker (Dumbo) as Joel’s daughter Sarah, Anna Torv (Mindhunter) as Tess, and Merle Dandridge (The Flight Attendant) as Marlene, the leader of a resistance group known as the Fireflies.
Merle Dandridge reprises her role from the video games in which she played the role of Marlene in the Fireflies. In addition to him, Jeffrey Pierce (Bosch) plays the role of Perry, Murray Bartlett (The White Lotus) takes on the role of Frank, Con O’Neill (Chernobyl) plays the role of Bill, and Storm Reid (Euphoria) plays Riley.
Chernobyl creator Craig Mazin and original game writer Neil Druckmann, who is also working as one of the show’s directors, are responsible for the executive producer and co-writing of the live-action series, respectively.
It is a co-production between Sony Pictures Television and PlayStation Productions, both of which are involved in making the show. Carolyn Strauss, Evan Wells, President of Naughty Dog, and Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan, both of PlayStation Productions, are the executive producers for this project.
