Sirens follow the life and music of Slave to Sirens, a band comprised of five young metalheads whose rising star is set against the backdrop of Lebanon’s revolution. Its members struggle with friendship, sexuality, and destruction, but their music provides a safe haven for Beirut’s teenage culture.
The band’s two founding members, Lilas Mayassi and Shery Bechara are at its center, and their convoluted relationship and subsequent tense breakup threaten the band’s entire fabric. However, the prohibition of homosexuality in Lebanon, as well as the completely catastrophic effects of their country’s political regime, pose an even larger threat. Despite evident obstacles, the members of Slave to Sirens continue to strive for their own revolution: living their truth.
