The official trailer for the upcoming crime comedy Mafia Mamma, which stars Toni Collette and is nominated for an Academy Award, has been released by Bleecker Street. On April 14, 2023, the movie is set to be released in theaters.

In the film, a woman attends the burial of her long-lost grandfather in Rome, only to discover that he was an Italian criminal all along.

There, she learns that her grandfather’s last request was for her to take over leadership of the family’s criminal enterprise before he passed away.

As a result of this, her life is turned upside down in a moment, and assassins are continuously attempting to take her life.

Catherine Hardwicke directs Mafia Mamma, and J. Michael Feldman and Debbie Jhoon are responsible for writing the screenplay. After having previously collaborated on the comedy-drama film Miss You Already in 2015, Hardwicke and Collette will now work together again on this project.

The plot of the movie is described as a “hilarious, action-packed comedy about a suburban American woman who inherits her grandfather’s Mafia empire and, guided by the Firm’s trusted consigliere, defies everyone’s expectations, including her own, as the new head of the family business,” according to the synopsis. “The film is about a woman who defies everyone’s expectations, including her own, as the new head of the family business.”

Joining Collette is Monica Bellucci, Giulio Corso, Francesco Mastroianni, Alfonso Perugini, Sophia Nomvete, Eduardo Scarpetta, Tim Daish, and Tommy Rodger.
