In the middle of the 1960s, Lowndes County, Alabama, which had an 80 percent black population, had no registered black voters. This documentary tells the story of the citizens’ movement and the youthful Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) organizers led by Stokely Carmichael, who risked their lives for the right of black people to vote. The story is told through first-person testimonies and harrowing archival material.
