The film demonstrates that mistakes can never be undone, such as dumping a friend’s kid while on vacation on a tropical island and realizing too late that it was her child.

It focuses on the characters played by Konkle and Fowler, Lex and Mani, as they navigate the awkward aftermath of Lex’s error, which ultimately wrecks their time spent in paradise.

According to the blurb, “Lex and Mani are a young married couple eager to begin their family together. They own their artisanal dream bakery in Los Angeles and are very much in love with one other.”

Considering that Lex’s ovulation coincides with a trip to a tropical island resort for a friend’s destination wedding, this seems like the ideal opportunity for her to become pregnant.

However, the positive energy and high expectations are quickly dashed when, just after they arrive in paradise, Lex inadvertently drops her friend’s baby in front of all of their other friends. As recriminations, passive-aggression, and old scars begin to infiltrate the island reunion and throw Mani and Lex’s future into grave question, paradise becomes purgatory for our pair.

Sarah Adina Smith directs The Drop, and she and Joshua Leonard are responsible for writing the screenplay. Anna Konkle, Jermaine Fowler, Jillian Bell, Utkarsh Ambudkar, Robin Thede, Aparna Nancherla, Joshua Leonard, Jennifer Lafleur, and Elisha Henig are starring in the film as their respective characters.
