Colton claimed to his parents that he had left his body during emergency surgery, and he provided evidence to support this assertion by elaborating on what his parents were doing in another area of the hospital at the time of his procedure.

He spoke of going to paradise, recounted events that took place before he was born and explained how he had conversations with members of his family he had never known. Even though he had not yet learned to read, Colton amazed his parents with descriptions and subtle details about heaven that completely matched the Bible. This occurred despite the fact that Colton had not yet learned to read.
