According to the series’s premise, it is “for anyone who just wants to laze about,” as it is described as “a languid, empathic road movie about discovering one’s parents.” Gudetama has accepted the reality that it will eventually wind up on someone else’s plate, and as a result, all it wants to do now is laze around all the time.
But after being swayed by the ambitious and dominant young lady Shakipiyo, it escapes from the refrigerator and makes its way into the outside world. These two children, who couldn’t be more different from one another, embark on an exciting journey together to discover their mother.
The Sanrio character Gudetama debuted in 2013 and inspired the video game Gudetama: An Eggcellent Adventure. The first episode of the series will be on Netflix on December 13.
