In this third installment of Marvel and James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy film series, the action picks up immediately after the events of Avengers: Endgame and Thor: The Dark World, respectively. The project was put on hold after Gunn was fired for making inflammatory tweets, only to be rehired a few months later. Production began in November 2021 and is projected to last through April 2022, according to plans.
